As a child, going to school felt overwhelming. Endless lessons, piles of homework, and the confines of the classroom made it seem more like a prison than a space for learning. I could never have guessed that I would eventually dedicate my life to teaching—the system I once found so stifling. Yet, here I am today, passionate about education. It's time to share the journey of how that transformation occurred.
The Change in Perspective
At first, I saw education as nothing more than a chore. Often, I daydreamed of adventures beyond the classroom walls. My perspective shifted dramatically when I discovered life outside of school and how overwhelming it could be. For example, during the summer holidays after my third year of High School, one of my friends killed themselves. Along with many other unfortunate events, from childish heartbreak to teenage angst, an emotional soundtrack played in the background for years. Eventually, I realized that school could be a safe place to be. And instead of trying to escape school and disengage with its purpose. My eyes opened to the possibility and potential within the classroom walls.
This realization hit me hard: learning could be my way to avoid the difficulties life threw at me. It could give me a chance for change. Education could be my escape.

Rediscovering Passion
Through self-reflection, the school transformed from a hurdle into a launchpad for discovery. I recognized the need to nurture curiosity in my students, as I had done with my interests outside the rigid structure of a traditional curriculum. When I chose to pursue a career in education, I promised myself I would never use dull methods that had stifled my growth. I promised myself I'd be the teacher who allowed children to look forward to the lesson.
While months of teacher training introduced me to various teaching strategies, it was the practical experiences in real classrooms that truly fueled my passion. I started to view my students not just as learners but as fellow explorers in the expansive world of knowledge and experience.

Every day in the classroom, I use my past feelings of disconnection to build an environment that promotes enthusiasm and engagement. I motivate students to trust their creative instincts and connect learning with real-life experiences.
